A huge fire has broken out on an oil rig platform in the Gulf of Mexico, 95 miles (152km) off the coast of Houston, Texas. on Saturday the 31st of May 2025 after an explosion was heard.
This explosion occurred on Saturday the 31st of May 2025, during the day which has forced the evacuation of about 15 workers from the platform. Although some senior staffs and executive engineers stayed behind to manage the platform because of the ongoing production. The unfortunate accident left two workers dead and four deckhands sustained critical burns and others sustained critical injuries from the explosion.
The spokesman and the Senior Industry Expert, Engineer Arthur Sabatay of the contracting Petroleum company on-site stated that one of the engines was showing signs of failure but it was duly fixed only for the same engine to flare up leaving two dead, others severely injured while damaging valuable properties.
The US Coast Guard and federal safety officials are still trying to assess all potential hazards caused. According to our sources, the contracting company in charge of the drilling and maintenance of the oil rig is currently under investigation with their insurance company is attempting to uncover the actual cause of this accident which has resulted in the loss of lives, multiple casualties and damage of equipment worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Although technicians were employed to keep this equipment safe for work, there was nothing anyone could do to prevent the hazardous wreck and damages that were caused.
